About us
Te At Su first started in the early 1970s with Teddington Karate Club at the Strathmore Youth Centre. Shihan Dave Parker, whose 35 years in Martial Arts helped him form a unique style, drawing inspiration from Karate, Ju-Jitsu, Aikido, Unarmed Combat, Kickboxing and Judo.
With over 40 years experience, Te At Su is guided by Sensei Tony Newman (6th Dan Te At Su) and Sensei Steve Gilbert (6th Dan Te At Su). All of the Clubs within the Te At Su family are encouraged to express their own individual styles - whilst remaining united in the basic syllabus which is a standard for all.
Sensei Tony Newman and Sensei Steve Gilbert are the founder members of Te-At-Su and still train and teach together after 40 years in martial arts together. On his journey Sensei Tony has trained in all styles of martial arts such as Aikido, Shoto Kan Karate, and Kyokushinkai Karate. Sensei Tony runs the very successful Sunbury Backstreet Dojo.
